Full Time Application Closes 28 May 2024 Auckland - South Auckland Substance Abuse and Behavioral Disorder Counselor Do you want to be a part of a new bi cultural Alcohol and Drug Treatment service delivered in partnership with Serco within the Auckland South Corrections facility?We are now currently seeking a full-time permanent Practitioner / Kaiwhakamahereroa Waranga to join our team in delivering treatment for 6 to 12 months within in a therapeutic community-based environment and continuing care support within the community.Your role will include assessing clients, developing treatment plans, preparing NZ Parole Board reports and ensuring effective delivery of 1-2-1 and group interventions. You will also provide continuing care to programme and community clients /tangata whaiora to support participants'' ongoing recovery journey.Our ideal candidate will have: Up to one year''s relevant experience working with clients in a health, additions or mental health care setting A relevant degree level qualification in Alcohol and other drugs (AOD), social work or mental health A willingness to embrace a bi cultural treatment approach within a therapeutic community environment Registration with a professional body or a willingness and eligibility to gain registration Skills in group delivery and individual interventions Motivational Interviewing experience Excellent clinical judgement and strong clinical boundaries A good level of understanding of tikanga Maori and its importance within this setting Report writing skills and computer proficiency An understanding of working in a correctional environment A strong ability to complete informative and up to date records The ability to work autonomously We can offer you: A salary between $65,915 and $73,590 depending on registration and experience An annual ''location'' allowance of $2000 for working in a correction''s-based environment. 22 days annual leave and 5 days paid study leave per annum Access to study, learning and development opportunities A dynamic and supportive team who are passionate about what we do More about us:Odyssey has supported thousands of New Zealanders whose lives are affected by alcohol, drug or other addiction challenges.
